SEO is all about the practice of continuously increasing the quality and quantity of website traffic by increasing the visibility of a website or a web page to users of a web search engine. SEO refers to the improvement of unpaid results and excludes direct traffic/visitors and the purchase of paid placement. The good news? You can optimize your website and increase traffic without expensive ad campaigns. The down side? SEO can be time consuming. It’s not the kind of task that ends - I like to think of it like taking care of a plant. You can’t just water it once and expect it to thrive. It requires continuous care on somewhat of a routine schedule.
So what can you do for some quick wins?
Take a look at your current web set up - Do you have a website? If not GET ONE. Do you have a blog in which you are regularly generating keyword rich content? If not, immediately add “blog” to your list of needs.
Topic Creation - Often times the reason people aren’t blogging regularly is because they do not know what to write about. It seems intimidating. This is where topic creation comes into play. Make a list of topics to write about. This can be easily done by thinking about the types of questions clients ask you about what you do. Example - If you are a photographer, think about what kinds of shoots you offer. Weddings? Family portraits? Graduation Photos? Write about those things.
Establish a Strategy - Set specific dates on your calendar that correspond with your topics - I recommend blogging twice a month, contributing to your ad campaigns weekly, and contributing to the SEO of your overall website on an ongoing basis.
